Thing to be thankful for #4The wonderful book, A Voice Crying In The Wilderness (Vox Clamantis in Deserto) by Edward Abbey. About a week ago I googled "california quotes" for something to put at the top of my blog and found a nice one by Abbey:

There is science, logic, reason; there is thought verified by experience. And then there is California.

A friend noticed the quote and decided to send me Abbey's little book of barbs and wisdom. What makes it even more special is that they didn't just purchase it to send to me, but it came from their own personal library. As a book collector myself, that means a lot.

I'm loving it and can hardly believe I'd never even heard of this guy until last week. It's things like this—discovering something totally new—that make life exciting (for me anyway). Needless to say, you can expect lots more Edward Abbey in the future of this humble blog. If you'd like to know more about this Abbey fellow, check out Abbey's Web.
