Alas, I'm back to blogging. I know, I know, I've said that before, but this time I mean it. Really. I've moved back to California and finally started to get settled into my new apartment and new job, so I have a little bit of time to blog. So let us begin with this little tidbit I came across this morning as I was reading though the harassment section of the employee handbook at work. This consisted of lots of ridiculous PC crap which I prompty ignored, but I did find this thing at the end that I thought was worth sharing.

If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look something like the following:

57 Asians
21 Europeans
14 from the Western Hemispere (both North & South America)
8 Africans

52 would be female
48 would be male

70 would be non-white
30 would be white

70 would be non-Christian
30 would be Christian

89 would be heterosexual
11 would be homosexual

6 people would possess 59% of the world's wealth and all six would be from the US

80 would live in substandard housing
70 would be unable to read
50 would suffer from malnutrition
1 would be near death; 1 would be near birth
1 (yes, only 1) would have a college education
1 would own a computer

WOW!! When one looks at the world from this compressed perspective, it becomes glaringly obvious how privileged we are. If not down right greedy and self-absorbed.

Wonderful to have you back. I only wish that I could disagree with you on some minor point to make it perfect. Alas, I am forced to completely agree.
